Who are you?
The Art of Survival was started by Craig Schriver and Keith Fukumoto to raise money for their Relay For Life team, 'The Cure-ators'.
Why are you doing this?
Cancer has touched us all in some way. Patients and caretakers fighting this disease need as much support as we can get. By raising money for the Canadian Cancer Society we can help fund research, information services, support programs and advocacy for public policies that prevent cancer and help those living with it.
How can I get involved?
If you are an artist you can donate a piece of work to the show. Anyone is welcome to participate. Due to limited space your piece may not be on display in the gallery, but every piece will be viewable online.
What type of artwork can I contribute?
The short answer is 'anything'! We'd like to have drawings and paintings, both traditional and digital. Sculptures, hand-crafted items,
stitchwork, photography, fashion design and anything else you can think of will be appreciated as well. If you choose to use a digital medium
we would ask that you print and frame the piece, as we can not cover these costs.
There is no set theme for this show, but we would like to keep the mood positive.
Where do I send my submission?
If you are in Toronto we can arrange to meet with you. Otherwise we can provide you with a shipping address. Please contact info@artofsurvival.ca for shipping or pickup information.
When is the deadline for art submissions?
We will be accepting donations until April 15, 2011.
When and where is the showing and auction?
Artwork will be displayed between May 9 - 21 at the Swansea Town Hall Community Centre Gallery.
We will be having a reception there on Saturday, May 14 from 1:00pm - 4:00pm. You can see many different works of art in a variety of different styles, and even meet some of the artists! Snacks and light refreshments will be served. This is a FREE event, but you are welcome to make a small donation if you wish.
The eBay auction will begin Sunday, May 15 and end Sunday, May 22. Links to each auction will be posted on this website. We'll make them simple to find!
Where does the money go?
All proceeds from the auction (minus eBay, PayPal, and shipping charges to auction winners) will be donated to The Cure-ators' Relay For Life team. Here is how the Canadian Cancer Society uses this money.

Of course! You may contribute directly to The Cure-ators' Relay for Life team. Just click 'Support The Cure-ators!'
